Visual Arts Exhibitions

Exhibition Hours are 12 Noon to 5:00 PM Daily unless otherwise noted, or by special appointment.

• January 18 - February 10 – “4th Annual First Show - A Collection of Community Art”, “First timers” show at the CAC, Free. Opening: 1/18/13- 5 to 8 PM (January closed on Sundays)

• February 24 – March 30, 26th Annual Women’s History Month Art Exhibit – “Common Thread”, Featuring women artists of America, Free. Opening Reception: 2/24/13 1- to 3 PM (Closed Sundays in March)

• April 13 - 28, - “16th Annual Student Expressions”, Park District Student K-12 District Art Show, Free. Opening Reception: 4/13/12 - 12 to 5 PM

• May 4 - 26, - “Capturing the Light”, juried fine art photography show. Also custom made furniture. Free. Opening Reception: 5/4/13 – 5 to 8 PM

• June 1 - 23 – “Art of the Parks 2012- Celebrating Our National Park System”, Exhibition featuring nationally renowned artists and sculpture by members of the Colorado Chapter of the Society of Animal Artists, Free. Opening Reception: 6/1/13 - 5 to 8 PM

• July 6 - 28 – “Women Artists of the West National Show”, Features artists from WAOW, Free Opening: 7/6/13 - 5 to 8 PM

• August 3 - 22 – “Plein Air Rockies 2013 Prelude Show”, Features Plein Air Rockies artists, Free. No Opening.

• August 25 – October 27, “Plein Air Rockies 2013 - A Festival of Outdoor Painting, Exhibition & Sale”, Features 40 artists’ fresh works painted “en plein air” 8/13 – 8/25, 2013, Free. Opening Reception: 8/25/13 5 to 8 PM, Awards at 6 PM

• November 23, 2013 – January 5, 2014 – “Celebrating the Season: 11th Annual Holiday Art Exhibition & Sale”, featuring CAC visual artist members, Free. Open House: 11/30/13 - 12 to 5 PM & 12/1/13 12 to 5 PM, Opening Reception: 12/6/13 - 6 to 8 PM

• May 18 & 19, 23rd Annual Jazz Fest/Art Walk Weekend and Spring Art Walk, at Performance Park, Greater Estes Valley and CAC Fine Art Gallery, Free.

• August 10 - 22, Annual Plein Air Rockies 2013 - A Festival of Outdoor Painting National Paint Out - Estes Park, CO & the Northern Rockies

• September 6 -8, Plein Air Rockies Fall Longs Peak Scottish-Irish Highland Festival Paint Out, Estes Park, CO 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM all three days. Admission Fee.

• September 13 - 22, Plein Air Rockies Fall Color Paint Out, Estes Park, CO & the Northern Rockies

• September 14 - November 17, 17th Autumn Art Walk, Self-guided tour of Estes Valley galleries and studios, Free.

Arts Education

• Explorations in Art and Stories in Music - CAC Fine Art Gallery, 423 W. Elkhorn Ave. and as noted below. The Estes Park Museum and the Cultural Arts Council will partner on a series art and history classes and workshops in 2013. Students must pre-register with the Estes Park Museum on this series by calling 970-586-6256. January - December, (Children Grades Pre-school through 12) Minimal cost.

• March 23 - “The Art of Block Printing” - Instructors: Lynda Vogel, Alicia Mittelman, and guest artist. Estes Park Museum 200 4th St. 10:00 AM to 11:30 PM. Children will learn about the process of block printing by watching an artist work, seeing the art of the late artist Dorothy C. Scott and pulling their own finished print suitable for framing. Ages: 6 - 9, Cost $10, materials provided. Class limited to 15 students.

• June 19 - “The Art of Sculpture” - Instructors: Lynda Vogel, Alicia Mittelman, and guest artist. Estes Park Museum 200 4th St. 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Students will learn about the process of creating bronze sculpture from a Colorado sculptor, have the opportunity to create their own sculptural work in clay and view some of the Town of Estes Park’s permanent sculpture installations downtown as well as sculpture at the CAC Fine Art Gallery. Ages: 9 - 11, Cost $25, materials provided. Class limited to 10 students. Students are asked to bring a sack lunch.

• October 12 - “The Art of Landscape Painting” - Instructors: Lynda Vogel, Alicia Mittelman, and guest artist. Estes Park Museum 200 4th St. 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Students will learn about the process of painting landscapes from a Colorado artist outdoors on location (weather permitting) or indoors from photographs. Ages: 14 - 18, Cost $25, materials provided. Class limited to 10 students. Students are asked to bring a sack lunch.

• Adult Art Education & Professional Development Series, Master Workshops and Classes

Free form work sessions, bring your own project from home. Individual instruction, focused to guide personalized growth as an artist. Beginner to intermediate level. $10 per session/per person
