After analyzing the results of a community-wide survey conducted by the Cultural Arts Council of Estes Park, the CAC in partnership with the instructor of the series  is offering a kids workshop series, funded by a grant from Families for Estes.  The series is open to children ages 8 and up.
Artist and arts educator Beth Engel of Estes Park will be teaching the five-week series which will begin on January 16, 2017.  Some full and partial scholarships, based on income levels,  are available.  All classes will be held at the Remixed Store at 415 W. Elkhorn Ave..

The first module of the kids workshop series in 2017 includes:

Monday, January, 16, 6 p.m. CLUE CHARACTERS, Part One. Students review color value and paint a color value scale; they discuss the characters from the game Clue and the use of colors in their names; they learn cartooning techniques while doing a warm-up and then draw and paint a Clue character using many values of the color in the character’s name

Monday, January, 23, 6 p.m. CLUE CHARACTERS, Part Two. Students review color value and paint a color value scale; they discuss the characters from the game Clue and the use of colors in their names; they learn cartooning techmiques while doing a warm-up and then draw and paint a Clue character using many values of the color in the character’s name

Monday, January 30, 6 p.m. MEDIA: STATUE OF LIBERTY. Students study pictures of the Statue of Liberty while discussing how to create the appearance of form on a two-dimensional place; they learn how to use soft pastels to shade and create shadows, and then draw the Statue of Liberty from a picture, trying to create the appearance of volume and form.

Monday, Feb. 6, 6 p.m. LINE: VICTORIAN HOUSES, Part One. Students study the architectural elements of Victorian houses; they create an original Victorian house with line, leaving the window spaces blank, fill in the windows with happy holiday scenes, and cut out their houses to put on a mural.
